Assorted colour Hot Air Balloons on Grass Field during Golden Hour

Cumulus Consultants was founded by Paul Silcock and Clare Lovegrove in 2004. Both previously worked for GFA-RACE Partners Ltd, a joint venture based at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.

Our vision was to create a small, lean, multi-disciplinary consultancy working primarily in the fields of agriculture, agri-food, agri-environment and rural economy – and this is still very much at the heart of what we do today.

The company name ‘Cumulus’ comes from the white, puffy, cloud which we often see on fine days. This stems partly from Paul and his family’s interest in ballooning (!), and partly because clouds provide perspective on our inter-connected countryside. We think Cumulus clouds are a beautiful, natural image and we hope you feel the same.

Since 2004, our team has evolved to include a mix of staff and associates covering a range of specialisms and geographical areas. We have developed strong links with a number of other consultancies with whom we collaborate on a regular basis. However, our positive and personal approach remains unchanged as does our versatility and focus on delivery.
