Completion of the Isle of Man Land Management Framework and Carbon Sequestration Plan

We’re pleased to share the completion of the Isle of Man Land Management Framework and Carbon Sequestration Plan — a two-year project delivered for the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, Isle of Man Government.

Led by Cumulus Consultants, working alongside Tautenay, Environment Systems, Beyond Zero and AECOM, the project brought together evidence, stakeholder insight and spatial analysis to support better long-term decisions about land use, nature recovery, food production, carbon sequestration and resilience on the Island.

Key outputs included an Island-wide habitat map, ecosystem service baseline and opportunity maps, shared land-use priorities, guiding principles for decision-making, an online GIS-based Spatial Guidance Tool and user guidance. Alongside, a Carbon Sequestration Plan and Land Use & Ecosystem Services Report provide a long-term perspective to 2050, including scenario analysis, balanced pathways and actions for consideration.

The project highlights the importance of taking a coordinated, evidence-led and locally informed approach to land management — helping balance the needs of communities, the economy and the environment now and into the future.
