Cumulus have completed its latest report, ‘Beyond Brexit Blueprint’, for Seafood Scotland, examining the state of play for the industry post Brexit. The Scottish seafood industry, which catches and markets around 300,000 tonnes of fish annually, has been left in a difficult position following the UK’s decision to leave the EU. However, there are areas for optimism and the report highlighted access to quality fish stocks and well-established markets within the EU and further afield, as factors that will ease recovery. Donna Fordyce, Chief Executive of Scottish Seafood, said:
“We are now firmly focussed on taking forward the key recommendations. Paul Silcock, Cumulus’ Managing Director, said; “At Cumulus we are passionate about balancing the need for production with the sustainable use of land and sea. We hope that this report and its findings will help guide the Scottish seafood industry through the challenges it’s currently facing to a more sustainable future that will benefit generations to come.”
