Cheshire-based Barnston Estate comprises a wide range of residential and commercial properties as well as dairy, forestry and renewable energy enterprises. Cumulus Consultants teamed up with 3D Rural Surveyors and landowner Edward Trevor Barnston to produce an innovative natural capital assessment and strategy, as part of the Estate’s quest to grow and develop its business for future generations. As well as analysing the extent and condition of the Estate’s natural capital assets and the impacts of the Estate’s enterprises on these assets, the report highlighted a raft of future priorities such as low carbon and nature friendly farm management to ensure future sustainability.
In more good news this project has received national recognition and been shortlisted for a Rural Business Award in the Sustainability and Environmental Impact category.
