Congratulations go to the Barnston Estate, a key client of Cumulus Consultants and 3D Rural, which has been named as a runner up in the prestigious Rural Business Awards in the Sustainability and Environmental Impact category. Originally, as one of six entrants shortlisted for the award, Barnston was recognised for its commitment to strengthening the environment and enhancing natural capital assets on the Estate.

Pivotal to this award and the progress Barnston has made over the previous 18 months, was the natural capital assessment and strategy carried out by Cumulus Consultants and 3D Rural in 2020. Their report analysed the extent and condition of the Estate’s natural capital assets and the impact of the Estate’s enterprises on those assets. The report also set out a raft of future priorities such as low carbon and nature friendly farm management, to ensure future sustainability.

Ed Barnston, commented; “To be recognised by the Rural Business Awards is in very large part, proof of the hard work by Cumulus Consultants and 3D Rural, moving us in the right direction”.

Paul Silcock, Director of both Cumulus Consultants and 3D Rural, said; “We are delighted that our work with the Barnston Estate has been recognised. However, there is still much to be done to ensure similar estates and landowners commit fully to protecting and managing their natural capital assets for future generations”.
