Ridge to River Landscape Recovery is a farmer-led partnership between the Duchy of Cornwall, Moccas Estate, the Woodland Trust and Natural England, focused on restoring a resilient, multi-functional landscape across 3,300 hectares in the Upper Wye Valley between Hay-on-Wye and Hereford. The Ridge to River project team drafted a list of c. 34 management options and payment rates that match the objectives that project is seeking to achieve in the context of the local landscape. Funding is expected to come from a combination of public and private sources. The aim of this project was to undertake an independent review of the management options and payment rates in order to benchmark them against existing Defra schemes and other payment mechanisms, and test value for money. This verifies the rates for the project team, Defra and other future funders.
