The aim of this project was to produce an innovative natural capital assessment and strategy, as part of the Estate’s quest to grow and develop its business for future generations. As well as analysing the extent and condition of the Estate’s natural capital assets and the impacts of the Estate’s enterprises on these assets, the report highlighted a raft of future priorities such as low carbon and nature friendly farm management to ensure future sustainability. A natural capital plan was then developed for implementation over the next 10 years. This project received national recognition, with the Estate being named as a runner up in the prestigious Rural Business Awards in the Sustainability and Environmental Impact category, in recognition of its commitment to strengthening the environment and enhancing natural capital assets on the Estate.
